saddle tied

JIm's 10 yrd old brooks saddle has accumulated a bunch of miles over the past decade and was starting to show it's age by getting a little saggy, so we drilled a couple of small holes in each side and tied a small piece of nylon sting on the underside. It gave the saddle a little more support on top and firmed the leather just a little. We also gave it a fresh coat of wax too. Hopefully the maintenance gives JIm another happy 10 yrs with his brooks saddle.

inspiration for the small modification came from the folks over at velo retro.

Ritchey Torqkey

here's a nice little tool that we've had for a while now.....using it today reminded me that i needed to throw a little blurt about it on the blogger. For $15 you can get a nice tool to help clamp your high dollar stems and carbon handlebars. Made for applications that require 5nm (44.3 in-lb) with a 4mm fastener. A small price for precisely torqued bolts.

The screaming Banshee's have arrived

New in the Barn for 2010 is the addition of Banshee bicycles and frameset. These guys are making some incredible products and we're happy to introduce them to our customers. At the shop right now is a demo Paradox, a 29er hardtail with a geometry based around more aggressive trail riding and a 120mm suspension fork. The other demo bike and my personal favorite is the new Spitfire full suspension bike with 5" of travel and adjustable geometry that goes from slack to uber-slack (66.7-67.8 with 140mm travel fork). So come on into the shop to try one out and tell us what you think.
